When I first arrived at Brahmshaus in the late summer of 2022, my gracious host predicted that I would fall in love with Baden-Baden. Two years later, climbing up the stairs to the beloved composer’s refuge felt like coming home. It was an honor to spend a month surrounded by books, scores, and the beautiful black forest. Time passed by quickly while getting lost in research and practice, ending with a solo recital of music by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Florence Price, and Amy Beach.
